A refined French, earthenware table lamp of Art Nouveau style.
The lamp seated in an openwork ormolu base.
The lamp with a sky blue ground colour
and decorated with a continuous stand of poplar trees.
A decorative band of ormolu encircles the body and neck of the lamp.
This is an important Art Nouveau lamp being a product of the
great French ceramicist, Ernst Chaplet (1835 – 1909).
Chaplet developed his own unique glaze colours,
each colour being prefixed by the name “Chaplet”
ie “Chaplet Green” etc
This lamp with “Chaplet Sky Blue”
which could be described as soft blue/grey in tone.
